Liverpool

We Love Liverpool…

Liverpool is an incredible city with a uniquely warm accent and a world-renowned sense of humour. It’s been famous forever as the home of The Beatles and a couple of Premier League teams that shall remain nameless here – you know who we’re talking about! But there’s so much more to see and do when you travel to Liverpool – if you haven’t been in a while, it’s time you took a fresh look…

Beyond The Beatles, who you can find out more about at the award-winning Beatles Story exhibition or by taking a Magical Mystery Tour, Liverpool is also a UNESCO City of Music.

The city has been synonymous with music since the 18th century, with a rich, diverse cultural legacy evolving from the city’s status as one of the world’s great ports. Today, you’ll see it – and hear it – in the wealth of artistic output, from Merseybeat to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Liverpool’s also been named the ‘World Capital of Pop’ by the Guinness Book of records, producing more No.1 singles than any other UK city.

You’ll find The Beatles Story at the Albert Dock, famously one of the UK’s finest heritage attractions and home to the largest collection of listed buildings in the UK. You can spend a day here exploring the iconic architecture, world-class museums such as Tate Liverpool or enjoying the hospitality of the many bars and restaurants. Liverpool’s also a favourite of foodies in the know, and here you’ll find one of the UK’s highest restaurants (if you have the stomach for it!) and another set in a converted church.

Liverpool’s architecture is also world famous with buildings that date back to the 1500s. You might want to check out the ‘Three Graces’ – the Royal Liver Building, the Cunard Building and the Post of Liverpool Building, all on the Pier Head. Liverpool is also home to Britain’s largest cathedral where you can catch a sunset from the tower. Why not venture out of the city to visit another architectural wonder – Speke Hall: a rare Tudor house surrounded by cultivated gardens, woodland and views over the River Mersey.

Liverpool also has more parks than Paris, so among all the hustle and bustle you’ll easily find some green space in which to relax. And if you cross the river to Wirral, you can explore Port Sunlight Village, built in the 19th century for the Sunlight Soap factory workers. It’s a gorgeous model village and award-winning tourist attraction.

Of course, no visit to Liverpool is complete without taking a ‘Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey’.  It’s a great way to get some of the best views of Liverpool’s world-famous waterfront – we love it!
